Calling all budding actors in and around Didsbury! Acting for Fun – Didsbury’s only adult acting class – is recruiting for this Autumn’s beginners class which starts on September 16th at Didsbury Baptist Church. (Students must book first). The course, which has been successfully running for the past eleven years, takes place each Thursday evening between 7.15pm and 9.30pm and runs for a total of 14 weeks. Tutor, Richard Sinnott, who is a professional TV actor, playwright, voice over artist and Salford University Performing Arts Lecturer, says the aim of the course is to boost individual confidence through improvisational acting techniques. Richard said: “The course teaches students to act at three levels – beginners, intermediate and advanced. For those who want to take those skills further into acting, then it’s a great foundation. “But for many it’s simply a way to become more confident socially and in the workplace, such as when they have to give presentations. The emphasis, though, is on having fun and making friends. “After an enjoyable evening of creating, improvising and performing sketches, it’s off down to the pub for a well deserved pint!” Prospective students should get in touch through the website by emailing info@theactryfactry.com or call us on 0161 434 2637 or 0780 3730557 for an informal chat.
The Actry Factry launches big publicity drive Throughout August and September, the actry factry will be distributing thousands of flyers and posters around Manchester south and central, to publicise its forthcoming flagship course, Acting for Fun (adult beginners). Co-founder and director, Beverley Walkden, said: "Acting for Fun has been running for eleven years and so we are building on that success with plans to further expand our business into the schools and corporate markets as well as offering private tuition to individuals. "Our aim is to make the actry factry the first choice for creatives who want to build more confidence in their career."
